A stronger starting point for amusement developers

North American equipment expertise should be easier to find.

New amusement projects involve major investments, safety obligations and years of operating responsibility. A low purchase price cannot reveal whether equipment meets the project’s requirements, whether installation support exists or whether replacement parts and warranty assistance will remain available.

AED brings U.S. and Canadian manufacturers and support organizations forward. Developers can compare where products are made, who installs them, and who remains accountable after the sale.

Lowest Price Isn’t Always the Lowest Cost

For more than 30 years, we have watched the amusement industry become increasingly crowded with offshore equipment and suppliers competing primarily on upfront price. But the purchase price is only part of the real cost of an attraction. Quality, safety compliance, installation, replacement parts, warranty support and downtime can ultimately matter far more. When something fails—or an installation does not perform as expected—the last thing an operator needs is a finger-pointing exercise between a manufacturer, importer, installer and overseas supplier while the attraction sits closed and revenue walks out the door.

Why AED Is Different

That is why the Amusement Equipment Directory (AED) is focused on North American suppliers and support. We help amusement developers, owners and operators find companies that manufacture, distribute, install, service and stand behind their products here in North America. Not every component has to be made here; in today’s global economy that would be unrealistic. What matters is having a responsible North American company behind the product—providing knowledgeable support, recognized safety standards, accessible parts and service, and a warranty you can actually use. Supporting these companies also helps keep our amusement industry innovative, competitive and sustainable here at home.

Compare apples to apples

Know where it is made. Know who stands behind it.

AED classifications help developers distinguish U.S. and Canadian manufacturing from supported international products and import-only distribution.

Preferred status is reserved for U.S. and Canadian manufacturing. Other suppliers must maintain accountable U.S. or Canadian support, and AED can request evidence before applying a reviewed marker.
